Hypnos – Set Fire to the Sky
These exuberant Swedes do much more than merely incorporate their retro influences into their sound; no, they take idolatry one step further by blatantly aping different bands’ styles for individual songs.

The album undulates between savagery and mournful atmosphere with a fair number of interesting flourishes added.
a dynamic, mind bending experience of groove heavy, percussion laden majesty
the totality of Un’s music embodies the essence of dark emotion
deftly blends ‘80s speed metal, hardcore punk, melodic riffs, and downright goofy lyrics and vocalizations
I hereby dub their music Dissonant DJ Shadow with a Side of Angst, or perhaps House Scene Obliteration. Maybe we can just call it The Body, since the genre only has the one project in it that can rightfully lay claim anyway.
…the album is darkly upbeat. There is plenty of energy with a plethora of twists and turns to keep it interesting.
Abhorrence take death metal, use it to write good songs, and spit out….more death metal.
For End of the Circle to grab me so completely and bend my thought to its will so completely, is a statement of exceptionalism.
