Thoughts on Clutch…

Saying this is a concert review would be misleading. I’m not a reviewer, I’m simply a HUGE fan of Clutch. I’ve seen Clutch play dozens of times, at big festivals and small venues. They never disappoint. Ever.

Neil and crew were in the middle of a long, intense tour including festivals and showrooms across the nations, with performances about every 2 days.

I myself have been in the middle of an intense stretch of life. And looking at the faces in the crowd around me, they are too. Our joints hurt and our eyes are getting bad and our favorite flannel just got a mysterious new hole in it.

Clutch played Blast Tyrant from front to back (my favorite album), so I knew every word, every riff, every beat of the drum. It was like hanging out with an old friend I hadn’t seen in over a year. Glorious was an understatement. 

But we’re all getting old. We’re tired. Yet ultimately, we’re still trying our best. Our souls are still young and our hearts are still thumping with a deep, primal need to go to concerts. We had as much fun as our aching feet allowed, drank a few beers before the heartburn set in, and went home with smiles on our faces.
