The video for A Scarlet Lunar Glow Pt. 1 starts off gently, with shots of scarlet leaves and other forest tableaus. The video continues with scenes of the band playing live in the forest alternating with close-up looks at the natural setting around them. Sometimes the shots of branches or the forest floor are made translucent to overlay the band playing. The whole thing provokes a beautiful, gentle melancholy. Hailing from Portugal, Icosandria have been active since 2022, releasing two singles and an EP. On April 7th, they will release their debut full length through Black Lava Records, and it is worth the wait! The band is composed of Tiago Pereira, Rui Moreira, Paulo Silva, Miguel Pinhal and Miguel Almeida.
“A Scarlet Lunar Glow” combines elements of shoegaze, post-rock, and even hints of black metal to create a mesmerizing sound, drawing the listener into the depths of the vision of “the delicate trajectory of coming of age amid the enigmatic symphony of existence in this world.” (quote from the PR material sent by the label) The music has both dynamic and depth, and certainly calls forth a swath of emotion, as it is meant to.
“A Scarlet Lunar Glow” is a powerful statement about to be released on the world. Pre-order the album from the Black Lava Bandcamp or website. Also, watch for the band on their tour (poster below).
