The freshman release from the Russian stoner/doom band Redneck Spaceship, Grand Marshal Ape, is the perfect blend of rocking groove riffs and well sung vocals. Being my first listen of the band, I didn’t know what to expect. What I found was a fantastic listen of well produced, bluesy, groovy metal. Even the banjo, slide guitar, and harmonica fit well in the different tunes. The album brings me back to the classic southern rock sounds. If I had to compare it to a more mainstream contemporary band, I would say it is a more southern rock sounding The Sword.

The album presents nine tracks of rock-n-roll mastery. These guys from Russia put something special together. They really jam. I highly recommend checking them out and adding this album to your regular rotation.
