Carnis Immortalis – The Ecstacy of Death
Quite frankly, I’m a little shook by how intensely good this album is.

Miasmic Purple Smoke (the album) is a sometimes caustic, sometimes psychedelic, always crushing journey of mesmeric riffs and ponderous rhythms.
This album is a much needed throat punch to the decadence and oppression of modern society. Plus, it absolutely rips!
This whole album sounds like a fast-paced summer road trip (complete with all the flat tires and sugary gas station snacks) wrapped up into 11 tunes. Turn it up, drive fast, and roll the windows down!
…as in a dream world, the album is a deep mix of different concepts both musically and conceptually that would seem confusing outside of dreamworld. Yet here, they make perfect sense.
Full of snarling punk attitude, the album is just plain fun to listen to.
I think the only important thing left to say, is roll for initiative!
‘Immersive’ is probably a good adjective to describe this record as a whole, but I think I’d rather use ‘refreshing.’
Detroit and thrash metal are a natural pairing. It follows that the city responsible for some of the loudest and fastest cars ever made would produce human beings with a propensity for loud and fast music.
